Because students rarely are able to reach their full potential by following a generic course flowchart, we recommend coursework to maximize GPA impact and develop a rigorous transcript.
Our counsel includes test preparation recommendations, when to begin testing, as well as, strategies that will produce your child's highest scores.
Because student's can spend countless hours in activities that are not value added, we recommend extracurriculars that develop a meaningful resume, demonstrating depth of interest and accomplishments.
For maximum benefit, parents should begin academic planning as soon as the student begins taking high school level courses which, for many students in both the private and public systems, is during middle school.
As the student advances to high school, math, english and foreign language course choices may be limited due to decisions made while the student was still in middle school. These decisions regarding course selection have a profound and sometimes irrevocable impact on the students final GPA, class rank, and rigor of transcript.
We are currently providing services on an individual meeting fee for services basis. Consultation fee schedule is based on the student's current grade level as follows:
7th, 8th grade-$400
9th, 10th, 11th grade-$500

Recognizing that many families don’t start thinking about college admissions in an actionable way until the beginning of the student’s junior year, Strategic Vectors offers Junior/Senior year services to serve those who are in the “11th hour”, so to speak. The last two years of high school are the most important in terms of developing a college list, scheduling and optimizing college visits, prepping for and taking college admissions tests, and developing a resume. Additionally, although missed opportunities in the middle school and early high school years put a student on a trajectory that is difficult and sometimes impossible to alter, strategic course selection in the senior year can still accomplish goals such as: meeting college admissions criteria at specific universities, demonstrating rigor, as well as, preparing the student for college level courses and specific courses that the student will likely take in college based on choice of major and/or career objectives.
Strategic Vectors’ services during this period can have a measurable impact in terms of the efficient use of the student’s valuable time, maximizing opportunities that remain, and reducing anxiety that can come without early planning and preparation.
The college application is your child's platform for presenting himself or herself as a prospect for admission. In most cases, the application is the only means by which a student is evaluated.
Given this level of importance, applications and essays should be reviewed by someone besides your student before being submitted. For clients who would like for someone else to provide oversight, review applications, personal essays and short answers (when applicable), Strategic Vectors offers Senior Year Services. These services are billed at an hourly rate in quarter hour increments.
The total expenditure will depend on you and your student. Cost minimization can be achieved by you and/or your student carefully reviewing all applications, essays and short answers prior to submitting to us for review. Additionally, having an updated resume with thorough descriptions of organizations/activities and honors/awards including criteria and an accurate record of hours invested, will greatly reduce our billable hours.
In most cases, all of our review will be done electronically, therefore, the need for face to face meetings during the process is eliminated. This is an added cost minimization.
Strategic Vectors counsels students of all academic abilities. We believe that any student's GPA can be positively impacted through deliberate course selection, regardless of its current value. Additionally, the counsel we provide for standardized test preparation and effective high school resume building is invaluable to any student who plans to apply to a four year college or university, regardless of the student's academic ability.
Teachers make recommendations for a single course in their own subject and do not take into consideration the full course load of your student. Teacher's don't typically weigh the GPA impact or how the course may impact your student's final transcript.
Guidance counselors provide broad based information to meet the needs of all students they counsel, rather than individualized strategies that might advantageously position one student over another. Frequently, guidance counselors are assigned large numbers of students, which hinders them from giving personalized attention to students. In the private school sector the ratios are much improved, yet in many cases, students are not counseled for college application until midway through the junior year.
By the time they are finishing middle school, students tend to "tune out" the advice of their parents. Our counsel offers a new voice and an outside perspective. Students are increasingly motivated when they see their GPAs and class rank improve as a result of our counsel.
Yes. Strategic Vectors provides services for application review as well as essay development and interview preparation. These services are provided at an hourly rate. Please contact us for further information.
We do not provide standardized test preparation services, however, we provide the necessary counsel for our clients to deliberately select a test prep service, when to test, and determine which test(s) should be submitted for college admission review.
We do not provide this service, however, our counsel incorporates careful consideration of what scholarship(s) the student may be eligible for based on academic performance and test scores.
